Boston Victory Names 2012 Season Roster As Season Kicks Off

A new chapter in New England soccer will be written at East Haven High School in Connecticut when the Boston Victory plays its first game in club history away to fellow Premier Development League team CFC Azul. 

Coach Sergio Taborda has announced his team roster that will compete in the 2012 Professional Development League (PDL) Northeast Division.    

The Victory will play home games at Veteran’s Memorial Stadium in Quincy beginning on May 12, but for now there is the matter of a road game at East Haven High School in Connecticut at 7pm on Saturday.

The Victory-Azul match up is one of three games between new PDL clubs. The others: the Austin Aztex travel to face the Texas Dutch Lions at 7.30pm CT in the Mid South Division then on Sunday evening, the VSI Tampa Flames host the Ocala Stampede at 6pm ET as they open their campaigns in the Southeast Division.

The 2012 Boston Victory roster is highlighted by Fall River, Mass., pair Andrew Sousa and Ruben Resendes, who have both spent time with the New England Revolution in Major League Soccer, and five Brazilian players.

The local standouts are joined in midfield by Matheus Assaf, Wagner Silva and Bruno Torres, while the Victory attack features Alan Viera and Lucas Pessanha.

Among players with local college soccer experience are goalkeepers Jordan Bar and Vinny Papageorgiou and Paul Latif, who hails from England.
